Alright I better not get blasted for putting a "Cooking" thread in the mens room but hey originality never hurt, right? Anyways I went to the monthly potluck at my homegroup last night and cooked for the first time in a LONGGG time. I used to do it a lot before the years of torture I put myself through and am just realizing how much I missed it. Also I found last night that what I brought (a simple Creme Brulee (Italian Theme Potluck)) was one of the biggest hits there ! Anyways, for you cooks & tailgaters out there, what is your specialty?

Specialty? Don't have one really, though I really like to cook, and I like making different things whenever I can. Either kicked up staples or the simple exotics. BBQing and Smoking is my favorite way to get it done. ![]() I'm always trying to think of different ways of doing stuff, and I don't keep track of recipes, I just kind of "go with the flow". Last weekend I made pizza's with a special homemade sauce, and it was really good, but while I was eating it I was planning on how to do it different next time. |

While going thru all the bs in the past, at one time in my life I lost control of myself and weighed 350lbs. I weighed like that for about 3-6 months, then started to diet and worked out. I can make some really good food, but with very low fat and calories. I make this one eggplant lasagna, only 230 calories and 6 grams of fat for a very nice sized portion. My family used to eat it and thought it was delicious, my mom used to ask me to make it all the time. I need to start cooking like that again. BTW I lost 90lbs in 3 months, without using any drugs!

Chili and I had the same results at the first pot luck. here it is 5 years later and they still expect I will bring chili. I have done shepards pies as well. Once I know who brings what, I can let them know what I would bring and they will bring things that go along with it. A main dish, they will bring sides. A full sized turkey or roast, another will bring potatos and gravy, another a green bean casserole

I can cook everything. Not much into baking things like bread or dessert, mostly main courses. Seafood, chicken or red meat. Eggplant is also something I love to eat and make. I love to make salads, vegetable and fruit (mostly tropical). I also make a very good cheezecake and Grasshopper Pie.

My clili is pretty good 2 alarm. My group has a catfish fry in the spring, been on that cookin' detail since I got sober. I just inherited a big ole smoker from one of my bro's today.Put some new wheels on it, gonna clean it up, paint the outside and give it a good hot burn and it will be good to go.
