ok so im trying to get sober for myself and i have been for awhile, so my girl and i break up because she says she is too hurt from when i drank and we will never be the same. I was planning on proposing to her and making her my wife. I cant get her out of my head. I am in the process of moving out of our apartment into my own so i have to talk to her in order to get things straightened out logistically for the move. every time i do i get her telling me oh im in a bar, oh im getting ready to go out, sorry i cant talk right now im video chatting with a guy. blah... so freaking over not being over her!!! sry i just had to get that out

"The alcoholic is like a tornado roaring his way through the lives of others. Hearts are broken. Sweet relationships are dead. Affections have been uprooted. Selfish and inconsiderate habits have kept the home in turmoil. We feel a man is unthinking when he says that sobriety is enough. He is like the farmer who came up out of his cyclone cellar to find his home ruined. To his wife, he remarked, "Don't see anything the matter here, Ma. Ain't it grand the wind stopped blowin'?"

Yes, there is a long period of reconstruction ahead. You must take the lead. A remorseful mumbling that you are sorry won't fills the bill at all."

Here is a link for you. If you don't have a Big Book.

Hi and welcome to the Mens forum WSS

It's really hard to start reconstructing our lives when we get sober, especially when there are things we wish were different...but aren't.

I tried to have faith that everything would turn out ok for me - even if I had no idea what my future might look like.

And it did

Keep the faith man

D
