Noob Question

Does this place have a general discussion room where people just talk about whatever they want?

I just logged in. I have been on so many damn drug boards for jambands that I wanted to try something that wasnt poison to my recovery.

What is this room all about? Light hearted.

Just someone give me a real quick and dirty about how this place function

My name is Michael and I am an alcoholic.

Hey Michael. Welcome to SR.

There are many different forums here for different topics. Some are fairly open, and some are topical. In the Mens Room (here) you can pretty much talk about what you want. Of course there are rules, but basically, be nice and respectful and you're following most of them.

There is also Cafe Central:

http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/caf-central/

Which is another open place to talk.

Or, are you looking for a live chat room? SR has that too, and you can find info about it in that section. I can paste that link if you want.

Let us know your thoughts.

Hi Michael

In addition to the pointers Ghostly gave you, the Newcomers Forum is a good place to introduce yourself and talk about your problems and/or recovery:

Feel free to ask any questions you like

Welcome to SR

Thanks for the kynd words.

In addition to my chemical and alchohol addiction I have always had an addiction to a few message boards.

I could rationalize it a 100 ways but at the end of the day 99% of the people there just talked about getting f-ed up and doing drugs at panic and phish shows.

I guess I was hoping for a music/general bs forum.

I guess I could always give the cat fancy forum a shot.

Welcome bud. I too have a slight addiction to music forums, the one I frequent most is really limited on the drug talk, but the booze is more present. I think it would be hard to find a good music board without some drug/booze talk, none of the ones I visit are totally free. What kind of music do you listen to?
