| Anybody play guitar?
I have a couple of Martain acoustics and want to put some good sounding strings on them. I have been using Martain Marquies (lights) for a couple of years. Rather than going out and buying all kinds of strings and name brands to try out I want some suggetstions on some good sounding acoustic strings. HR |

I've been using these for a while - cheap and cheerful, but they sound great. ![]() Ernie Ball Super Slinky (0.11 - 0.52) Acoustic Guitar Strings : Online Music Shop, Omega Music (UK) Ltd

I habitually used Martins or Dr Thomastik on my acoustic - although recently I moved to a small town and I've had to go to cheaper brands like Ernie Ball....no biggie as I only play at home....I don't notice big difference in sound quality (the cheaper sets are not as warm perhaps) but there is a difference in durability - the cheaper sets tend to break more often ![]() D

The guys in both my bands play elixirs and speak very highly of them I'm not a real guitar player, but I do acoustic gigs every once in a while and that's the only time I change strings- and I use the el cheapo, Ernie Ball, or whatever is on sale... I used to only change them if I broke one, but when you get in the habit of changing them every month or two, the sound is so much better it's ridiculous

I play electric, but Ive heard good things about elixir and D'addarios. just make sure you get the same gauge strings as the ones on there now or you may have to adjust the tension on your guitar.

On my Taylor acoustic I mainly use Martin Marquies light guage, but when I really want a deep rich sound I will put on DR's. They are hand made and seem to last a wee bit longer with the sound that only new strings can give. DR Strings: The Handmade Guitar and Bass Strings

Mostly working on the banjo right now, but I'm still playing the acoustic a bit. Sold the Marshall head for beer money...didn't really need it anyway, but it was pretty sweet. Actually made money on it, that usually doesn't happen for anything I buy.

Lately my string of choice has been John Pearse. I use phosphor bronze on my dread, and 80/20s on a 000. Elixer nanos are fine, and will last for a good long while. They don't have quite the tone of Pearse for me though, and they go dead so gradually that I probably leave them on long after I ought to replace them. If I can't find Pearse, I'll usually pick DRs or Martin SPs, in that order.

Here's a dilemma I have maybe I'll present it to the musicians out there- A kid got killed in a motorcycle accident- They did a bike fundraiser where they raised a lot of money for the kid's mom and somehow she got screwed out of it- My new band has a good following and can make money so we suggested that we do another benefit for her (we had nothing to do with the old one) at a place we always pack (and make a ton of money -for a band-) I thought it was a great idea- we set it up for 11/15 Well, all was ***** dory, except that today I got an e-mail from one of my buddies who is going to TOKYO on November 13th, returning on 11/18 or 19 I am broke as a joke and my buddy has offered to pay flight food hotel I will probably never ever go to Asia on my own, this is a once in a lifetrime opportunity my wife says I'm a moron for even entertaining the idea of not going to Tokyo, but I feel like I made a commitment to my band and to this poor widow... thoughts?

Been playing since I was a kid. I've got Strat and a Telecaster but now I mostly just play my old beat up Washburn acoustic. A while back I bought a cheap Fender bass just to mess around with.
