just wondering,did you feel your libido was supressed while drinking and when you stopped did it come back with a vengance or very little or not at all?One of the reason I liked drinking was it supressed it and I didnt think about sex which was a good thing as I found it very difficult to find a partner so it was in fact a bonus thing.

I got around when I was using... I had about a two week reprieve where I felt like hell, and then it came back with a vengeance.

it usually makes me very horny...and then the next day im horny all day i could masterbate like 5 times usually....my ex g/f usta be in awe of it especially if she was drinking with me the night before.

the day after,sure but not while on alcohol.I understand the reason is the day after is that after the depressant effects of alcohol on the nervous system,the next day the nervous system is recovering and getting back up to speed as such,so that could explian the increase in libido.I always thought that it was the poison of alcohol getting into all the body and therefore into the nuts and therefore into the sperm,so it was neccesary to jerk off to get rid of the poison....hmmm,maybe I am just weird thoughh

I am always horny as hell the day after a good alkie binge, often lasting a weekend or more. Which then would turn into an unproductive stay home and surf porn/spank monkey kinda thing, and then the self-loathing kicked in because I stayed home and surfed porn all day while neglecting my duties.

But...

I am now on (another) Day 2, and planning on going to my first AA meeting today. I'm more concerned about what happens to libido once I get fully detoxed. My doc also now has me on a statin drug (Pravastatin) to lower cholesterol, and I've heard (anecdotally) that it can lower the sex-drive. Anyone ever hear of that?

I ain't a akaholic but when I quit opiates/benzos a cat couldn't scratch it.

hmm increases desire but reduces the bodys ability mostly and feeds the care factor away

Sure my libido was supressed. A year after getting sober I started an affair with a gal from AA. (She 13th stepped me) I recently started attending 12 step meetings for sex addiction and between those and my therapist, I've come to believe that sex addiction was the driving force behind my alcohol abuse. I was medicating myself with alcohol to supress those urges.

I responded to a different thread. This is the one that need to address. I am always horny the next day,and have masterbated several times for relief from the detox.. Sexual addiction ,maybe?? It is nice to know that i am not alone.

Drinking alcohol lowers testosterone levels by 25%. That's why when you stop drinking your sex drive goes up. Also, a lot of male drinkers have gynomastia from the increase in estrogen.
