Can't call myself a fan any more. 2004... Sox are down 0-3 vs the yankees. I turned the TV off and gave the ole Boston end of season yell (as I have done for my whole life) "There is always next year" A real fan... my son, would not have done so. He said; they will do it, they can do it. I just walked out of the room and didn't go back to the game till..After they beat the yankee's butts and then on to win the whole ball of wax. I watched with apprehension as they played out the World Series games. It wasn't untill the fat lady sang (so to speak) that I started to accept that fact that they could finally win the series once again. You can't walk into my son's bedroom. He has so much RedSox stuff he has collected that there is just enough room to stand in the doorway of the room.

The second game I ever attended was the 5th game of the W.S. in 67 Cards got beat by The BoSox that game but, I've been a fan ever since. We're injecting animals with roids an we get all excited by the base ball players b n juiced. I could've taken all the HG there is and never hit a Randy Johnson curve. No wonder, are country's so messed up. What are they going to do to the players that came clean probably nothing. The players that lied might never get into the hall. Who knows for sure? Little different going to games sober but, it's still a good time on a spring day to smeel fresh cut grass an hot dogs etc. I have more fun going to the autograph shows and getting to talk to the old timers!!

I love baseball!! Played in high school, college, and into my forties when I broke my arm throwing a slider to some college kid who was waiting to jack it out of the park. I'm a big Red Sox fan who thinks Coco should be starting, not Ellsbury. Unlike most Red Sox fans, I respect the Yankees. I do love it when the Sox beat them, though. Hope to here more on this thread. Mike - in Boston, about a mile from Fenway. |

| I respect the players to a degree. Derek Jeter would be loved by all if he was on any other team but the Yankees. He would be seen by all in the same light as Cal Ripken, Jr in my opinion. When I was working in Boston, I would see the bus loads of people who come into town for the games. When the Yankess come to town...the fans that showed up with them ...well lets just say it would have been nicer if they stayed home. My daughter lives in Baltimore and when we go down there for a game, we hear the same things from people who own restrants in that area... "We like it when Boston people show up vs Yankee people." But then again...they could be saying the same thing to the Yankee people so they will get a bigger tip from them. *LOL*

just live minor league baseball where i live. triple A. Minnesota twins organization. my dad and i go to a game every month of the season. Most often its at least one of the highlights of my spring and summer. Rarely fall though it seems. I still like the chicago cubs, have ever since i was on swing shift in a factory years ago and could watch them during the day when i could afford cable and they didn't have lights in the stadium yet. Loved it, though the games were heartbreaking. 8th inning and oops back then. Kept me awake far longer than i ever should have been. great post. thank you |

A bunch of guys all trying their best to move up sure does make for a good game. Smaller stadium as well so even a bad seat is a good seat.

Best, I used to work in Allston, every year our boss would shut the warehouse down a few times and take the company over to Fenway for an afternoon game and all the watered down beer we could drink

Hey Astro! I live in Allston!! Born and raised. Been going to Fenway for 40 years now. Used to be a buck for a bleacher seat. We'd hang around the seats near the bullpen and Bill Lee used to have us make goal posts with our arms, spit out his gum, and kick it for field goals through our arms. Man, we love it! Mike |

Big Braves fan here. i grew up 2 miles from Fulton County Stadium. My drunk Korean War veteran uncle would always take me on bleecher bum day($1 tickets). His claim to fame was being cursed out by Dave Winfield for heckling him for 7 innings. I'm watching a game right now.

Ah Baseball, I too find it hard to be a fan these days. I grew up in the right field bleachers of Wrigley. Been to many a game with less than 1,000 in attendance. By the third inning, as a kid, we could sit anywhere. Ernie Banks knew my first name. $5.00 got me a bus ride to and from the park, a ticket, a hot dog and a coke. And when I came early, I'd usually hang out on Waveland Ave and come home with a couple of batting practice baseballs. But. My Dad was born in 1910. Died in 1985. Never saw the Cubs win. I was born in 1948. Never saw the Cubs win. The most Ernie Banks ever made was $50k. Now they all drive Lamborghinis. I love the game, but abhor the sport. I finally got a satellite dish last summer. What do I watch? The Cubs. Addiction sucks. warren |

<-minnesota twins fan here Looking back I really miss baseball a lot. I mean I played it every year until high school then I had to quit cuz i took one season off for leg surgery and couldn't hit anymore....but it is a ton of fun to be playing around outside in the beautiful weather. I am a bit too out of shape right now to play softball, plus it's all drunks anyway. We have the RiverBats here kind of a college summer ball league that is a lot of fun on a nice night....I think i may take in some of those games this summer

Looks like thus far I am the only Dodger fan around...the sound of Vin Scully's voice instantaneously calms me down, thoughts of spring and summer. They should have a decent season and drop out in the playoff's like most seasons these days. We got the Angels here as well - I do like the fact that Mike Soscia is the coach (the dodger great)...they are exciting at times to watch, and the stadium is more convenient for me to get to.... I played ball until I was 18 - was a decent hitter, and catcher- blew my knee out when someone dove in head first to home plate when I was 12 - ended my career behind the plate. My sponsor played pro ball (pitcher), his father was also a pro pitcher, even won a world series. I will probably get to a few games this summer - they are perfect on a summer night in SoCal.. I also used to watch a lot of Cubs games (was born in Chicago)- I used to love listening to Harry call the game - I am sorry he never got to see them win it all. Now I work a 'regular' job, doesn't afford me the afternoon to sit and watch the games. That's pretty cool about Enie Banks Warrens.
