| Opiate Addiction and Sex Drive
Before I started using opiates sex crossed my mind damn near constantly. Though I thought about sex constantly I never became a bar hopping man-*****. I started my opiate addiction with hydrocodone and oxycodone and the occasional hit of smack. I think it's safe to say that when you've injested a fair amount of opiates your twig and berries don't have much sensation. The flag will fly high and stay up all day but getting the job finished is mighty difficult. My girlfriend didn't know I was a user and would come over to my place to spend the night. She'd want to have sex and I'd say OK. 30 minutes later she's had her kicks and is waiting for me to have mine. "Is it me? You just don't find me attractive anymore." she would say. "It's not you, promise, I just have a lot of things on my mind baby." I got to the point to where I had make sure I didn't take anything after a certain time if success was to be had. So I got off the pills and smack and started a methadone program. Methadone made me a eunuch. I had absolutely zero interest in sex. And since this is day five without methadone, I'm feeling the withdrawal of course but I'm also feeling a little something else. I was wondering if any of you fellas would like to share your experiences in this department. |

What you're going through is completely normal. I can relate over the years as my opiate addiction, or even consuming a single morphine, or oxy would kill my sex drive. Eather i couldn't keep it up for any length of time, or i could never finish. I've had a girl or two question me, and each time i was honest and had told them that i'd popped pain pills. Neather of them used opiates, so they didn't quite grasp the situation, but they were both fair, regardless. You'll be fine man, just give it some time. |

I forgot to mention, that for a period of about 2 years, while addicted to morphine and Oxys, i went from thinking about sex 24/7, to pretty much never thinking about it. Now were all different, and we all have different habits, but in time, we all return to normal. While going through recovery, things will most def get worse before they get better. Just be patient. |
