I got sober 16+ years ago. Two AA neighbors stopped by the house...and got me started jogging before I could believe in myself.

I will never forget the feeling when I first could keep up with them going up a hill. That was the moment I first believed in myself as a human being. I started to believe I could accomplish something athleticly.

I am grateful to Nort and Gary for believing in me.

Finally back to the gym!

I've just hit four months today, and finally got back with the early crowd at the gym -- 5 AM. I had been sleeping a lot during the past four months, and was concerned that getting up early would be tough. I used to go early seven or eight years ago, but...

Well, I felt great! I can't remember when I had so much pep in the morning. I was thinking I should have started months ago, but I think my psyche needed the time to recover. It's a new experience working out and not merely sweating out yesterday's alcohol. I used to say, "I run so I can drink without guilt!" Sick, huh?!?

Been working out about a month now. Lost 20 lbs but could have lost more if I had not started drinking when I was done!

I work out 4 times a week. Feels great to be sober and work out. Not to mention your muscle gains will sky rocket if you quit drinking.
