It's basically a meeting where everyone is the same gender. You'll have a lot less meetings to choose from if you stick exclusively to single-sex meetings, but then again your sponsor knows you better than anyone here. Good luck. |

I went to one with my sponsor. We have large home group and I enjoy the regular meetings. The men's meeting just seemed to be a bunch of guys trying to see who could use the most profanity. Believe me, I am no prude but what's the point? To each his own.

Men's meetings are awesome...it gives you the the opportunity to share those things that predoimately pertain and effects the male gender:yes,it does provides you the freedom to express things which you wouldn't normally say in the presence of women(no dis-respect intended). And it also leads to the support that "only" another male could give; and it allows us males to do something that we in our past have had a hard time doing as men;and, that's Bond with one another as men. seloth@.

Each meeting is different, But I was in a Men's meeting in the past that was not filled with profanity, but allowed everyone to express themselves without the distraction of the opposite sex and wondering what they would think. It was a great place to talk about home life struggles and get other alcoholics honest experiences.
