Turbo Diesels

My Jeep only gets a little better than 19mpg. As I drive over 60 miles a day, what I spent on gas was killing me.

So I bought a used 2004 VW Jetta with the Turbo Diesel. So far I am getting just over 44mpg.

Here is a pic of it:

I have heard the Beetle Turbo Diesel get about 55mpg.

So I am wondering if others are going the diesel route? I think it is much prefered to the hybrids.

I love Jettas. I really wanted one, but I was forced into purchasing a Kia, as it was all I could afford. LOL!

I have a Jeep also. The engine went a couple months back, and it's been sitting in the driveway ever since, waiting for me to get it fixed. I miss my jeep! I also have to replace the windows, as the zipper on the driver's side has totally broken. UGH!

I don't know the specifics, but I do know that the Kia is MUCH better on gas then the Jeep ever was!!!! I still like the Jeep better though!

Acceleration is good. Fuel is about the same as gas now. I paid $2.80/gallon when I filled up about 10 days ago.

Haven't noticed any "hum" sound.

All in all I am enjoying it.

VW turbo is why it rides so nice.
The same turbo that was found in the gas VW is the same used in Porsche.
They know how to do it right.
