| Nice Night
So i'm up in my old town visits my parents, and I decided to have a relaxing night. I went to a local pizza place a stone's throw from my old middle school and had some dinner. I think the last time I was in there was maybe 10-11 years ago. (Great chicken parm...btw) Then I walked across the street and went to a new coffee house. I saw a flyer in there the day before advertising live music on Friday nights. I ended up listening to a couple local musicans play for almost 3 hours. It was great....I had a couple cups of GOOD coffee, and I finished Darkness Visible (which is one of the bests books i've ever read about capturing/describing depression). I wished I walked there, instead of driving the 3/4 of a mile. I wasn't sure if the weather was going to hold out. Not a bad way to spend a friday night. Now if I could only find a place like that near me in FL. (It is on my To Do list for 2006) -p

My home town favorite pizza place was sold. The new owner happens to be a guy I was in middle school with. I keep thinking that one of these days when I stop in, he will be there and we can shout a hello. That would be nice. The pizza is still as good also.

I am very much a "local" guy. I loathe all chains, and wish there were more mom and pop establishments. I try and support all of the local places because they bring flavor to the town. Thankfully the town I grew up in has very few "chains". The town wanted to keep a certain feel (think of downtown princeton....a ton of local shops, but smaller). Of course, there are probably 5 coffee shops on main st. (which is 1 mile long through the historical district) but each one has a slightly different feel to it. -p
