School Violence.....

Today was a real tough one for my son, and for ole mom here. he received a mild concussion after having his head beat against a brick wall at school. The kid who assaulted him had been trying to get in a fight with my son for weeks now...well finally he went off on my son...and get this....the school nurse calls me at 11:45........I think your son has the flu, he's nauseated, headache, dizzy.I get to the school find out my son has been assaulted an dthey ha djust let him walk out the door without telling me anything..told me it was no big deal!!!

I have talked to the police and am following their directions...will seewhat happens tomorrow....I am very concerned for my son being jumped again. I was told so much good about this school from parents and others. I am just pissed off and aggravated that no one was going to tell me!!

I took my son to the ER, had him checked out, have the paperwork documented. Neighbor friends of mine said I should call the school board and have them make sure school policy is enforced. My son was told at orientation...any violence, or even threats of violence police wil immediately check it out...well they can't when the school won't even inform them or the parent!!

Any parenst with any experience dealing with school violence/bullying please respond with any advice/suggetsions you have, would appreciate it greatly...and keep my son..and all our school kids across the nation in your prayers...no child should have to be afraid to go to school. It is sooo wrong.

OH MY GOD! I can not believe this. Absolutley call the school board. There is no reason no matter if your son did anything to have been assulted like that. Something has to be done or who's next??? I understand there are bully's and fighting happens but not bashing his head into a wall to the point he's dizzy and sick to his stomach. Where was the principal and why didn't he call you immediatly, he's lucky he doesn't have a law suit coming on is hands. I hope your son is ok. I'm behind you 100%

Go get 'em girl.

I responded to your other thread. You really need to go after this 100%. There is no excuse for violence in school, and no excuse for not notifying you at the time of the incident.

I took my son out of school for 6 months due to violence. He helped a freind who was getting beaten and the kids that were attacking his friend started calling the house and saying they were going to shoot up the house the police said they could do nothing until something actually happened these same kids shot another one of my sons friends in the head.

The night he got called and threatened we called the police and my son did not return to school after that. I home schooled him he did not like it but he did get ahead and will graduate sooner because of it.

It was a terrible experience....

I know of other kids who have been assaulted and not much gets done about it.....

I talked to the police today........the officer said to have my son write out a statement when he was feeling better and take it into him tomorrow..he would call the school today or tomorrow to see what was going on. I am taking my son to schoool in the morning and am telling the principal like it is........I want to be called if my son is even called a name by this kid! Bashing a kids head into a wall is serious violence! My son had childhood epilipsy from age 5-10.....the doc did say when I asked him about this bringing it back on that it could...that we can't tell...only time.

My heart is heavy and aches for my son..and all children living in fear of going to school he just signed up for basketball...doesn't want to go to practice now, doesn't want to walk home alone..I guess this 8th grader hangs with a bunch of real doozies.........it is so nerve racking..but I won't back down......the school wasn't even going to tell me! tried passsing it off as the flu!! I think I will call a lawyer tomorrow also...being as the kid is only in 8th grade the parenst and school will have to be held responsible probably moreso than the kid.......

Keep us in your prayers...........((((((((((Hugs to all)))))))))))

(((((((((splendra))))))))) That is so awful about your son and his friend...my god.....law enforcement and schools MUST realize that waiting for something to happen is so irresponsible!! What about the victims rights? OUR right to live in peace, not afraid to send our kids to school??? Huge hugs to you..and bless your sons heart.I have thought about home school in the past..I juts don't know..will have to take it a day at atime.

Im kinda curious how this one works out.My girlfriends 15 year old daughter came home today complaining an older kid at school grabbed her ass and also made a few vulgar remarks too.She reported it to a teacher.Tommorow her mother is going to the school to find out what is being done about this incident.Seems to me like this is "sexual assault" and charges should be filed.

The most important thing is to know your rights, and not to back down. You have to accept that you need to work with the system; but that can also be a good thing. If your son was assualted, there should be a policy in place to address the situation. Suprisingly the policy doesn't get followed in many cases. If you file a police report that will get the gears going. (they might tell you to talk to the principal first to find out the details. They might start a file and have it pending) Usually a school has a liasion at the local police station that handles issues with the school.

I would request a meeting with the principal and guidance counselor to discuss what happened. They will most likely ask for a day or so to talk to everyone involved. The parents of the other kid may or may not want to talk with you. I wouldn't get them involved until you talk with the principal, etc.

Hi there, this was a bit back a ways, see the date, and I am not sure where 2stop has been, but I wanted to bump thisup, and say a few things.

In the summer of my 9th grade year, going into the big high school ( and it was big, not like the little one in the village I live in now), a girl , named Charlie, (yeah, that should tip ya off, she was one tough broad) decided she didn't like me, I guess I took away one to many boyfriends, or girl friends from here, either way, she decided she didn't like me,, and she was going to kick my rear end.

Well, my all of my high school years were ruined from thsi girl, she absolutely tortured me in school. She was so tough,, She made it clear that she was going to get me as soon as she could, and I seen what she did to another girl that she decided she didn't like, and I didn' want`that happening to me,,

To fuel the fire, I ended up getting pregnant in the end of my sophmore year,, (yep, not to smart, but wouldn't change it now, ) and SO did this girl, well her parents MADE her have an abortion,, can you imagine, what luck for me, NOT,,!! Her and her boyfriend would be walking down the hallway, and more than once, when I passed them, they would throw me into the lockers,, well I was big pregnant by this time, and
not a very big person,,, (well, except my belly, lol).. I am really lucky, she didn't hurt my baby..

Over those years in high school, I lived in EXTREME fear,, I was so afraid, that I didn't do much of anything outside of school either, because I was afraid I would see her there,, and I was to afraid to tell my parents, this girl had a rough life, tough parents, she had already been through drug and alcohol treatment, by THIS time in high school, and this was 20 years ago,, anyway, she was no one to fool around with. I knew that telling my parents or anyone else, would just cause me more problems tht it was worth,, I was aftraid she would really get me then..

To make a long story short, she RUINED ALL of my high school years, I was SO afraid of her, even now, I wish I would just have let her kick the crap out of me, and been done with it,, and maybe I would have had a bit more life in high school than I had.

I missed out on alot of activities and things, because I refused to go, due to fear of her..

I am trying to say to all ofyou, if you have kids, listen to them, I mean REALLY listen to them, and if they are being bullied at school, DO EVERYTHING you possibly can to help your chold, so they don't miss out on things in school, like I did,, It isn't worth it, at all. I missed so much..
I would NEVER want my kids to go through what I went through in school, and I hope you stop, and take a moment to really adk your kids what is going on with them in school, it's a good thing to do, even if they arent having problems with another kid,
who knows in this day, what they might be going through..

Love ya all, Becky
