Question TOPIC: TATTOOS TATTOOS What Kind & Where Would You Put It?

Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.

Enjoying life and having fun. As a result
of that I havent found it necessary to
pick up a drink of alcohol since 8-11-90.

Giving credit to my AA program and a
faith in a Power greater than I.

Im extremly grateful.

TATS.......TATTOO......TATTOOS

I got my first tattoo June of 2008.
Since then I have aquired 4 more.

Someone told me that they were
addicting. No joke. They Are..!

At the moment im working on my
next one. Not sure where i want
it or which one i want. Decisions
decisions....

How about you? What kind of tat
do u have or want and where is
it located or where would you
place it?

Share your own experiences with
me and others.

Thanks for letting me share.

I vote for not having one.

There is a fine line between tattoos and piercings, and cutting and other forms of self harm. Just MHO.

I would love a flower tattoo on my toe. My hubby would be pissed. If anything happens to him, I'm getting one!

Growing up i was told that u dont want to
get tattoos because no one will hire you.

Of course i didnt know anyone around me
that had tattoes so there were no
influences.

Thats been many yrs ago.

The first time i had thoughts of possibly
getting a very small tattoo maybe at
the bottom of my ankle was about
5 yrs ago while living in Houston.

Well since then Ive moved back home
to my hometown of Baton Rouge and
got divorced after 25 yrs. Ive also
gone thru some good changes in my
life and continue to grow and mature
in recovery.

Today im into enjoying life and having
fun all in prospective.

My tats are very lady like and colorful.
And as far as having them in the job inviroment,
i didnt have any problems.

I do know they r permanant and that is
why i search thoroughly for what i want.

Tattoos for me are like a work art. And i dont mind
having them visable to be admired all in
proper areas.

My first tattoo is a large red heart with 3 different
color roses placed around it. In the center
is a ribbon with Harley Davidson. Then a few
tribal points or designs.....Got that one off
a patch on a jacket i have.

Another is a pretty bird on a branch on
the upper left chest.

Another long stem on the upper back shoulder
with few flowers and butterflies with Lady
Rider written.

Then on the lower right arm , wrist and top hand
are small flowers, butterflies with Princess written.

My next one i want to get February 14th on
Valentine's Day right after my fiance and I
exchange vows to be married. It will be the
first one to get together as husband and
wife.

That one is either a tribal eagle spread wings
on the back upper shoulder or something floral
on the front upper right shoulder/chest/neck
area.

Well back to the drawing board.

I have one - it's kanji for "friendship" and it's just above my heart. I want another but can't decide on an exact design or location so I haven't done it yet.

I like to donate blood, too, but getting a tat only makes you ineligible for 12 months so that's not too bad.

Sharon, your tats sound wicked. Love to see some pics of them.

I have always wanted a tat IF I could find something that really struck me. For years, nothing did. Until I saw what I have as my avatar pic. First time I saw this was in some magazine about a year or so into my Recovery. The minute I saw it, it overwhelmed me. I see it as me looking to my HP for guidence.

I've shared this with a few people and no one else sees what I do, but after all, isn't a tat supposed to be something YOU identify with?

I have made myself the promise that on my 5 year Anniversary, which God willing will be 7/25/10, I'm going to get it done. I have a change jar that I have been throwing all my silver in for this reason.

Where to put it is my next decision.

By the way, anyone know Kat VonD personally? I'd love to have her shoot it while I talk Recovery with Nikki Sixx. I love The Soundtrack to the Heroin Diaries.

Peace,
Judy

Once you get ur first tat then ur hooked.
Go with something small first if ur unsure,
then bigger ones later.

Judy ur aviator picture is good. Just think
what it would look like when vibrant colors
are added to it on ur skin. Mine r very vivid
and colorful.

I look for tattoos on google.com

Just type in flower tattoo or fairy tattoos.....
anything u want to look for......and there r
lots of tattoo site to find what ur looking
for.

Remember yesterday is gone forever.
Tomorrow hasnt come yet.
All we have is today.

Collecting a few one days at a time together
gets u were u r today.

If no one has drank or use today then uve had
a good day.

Thanks for letting me share.

I have a home done one I got at 13. You know that teen experimental stuff. Nothing major. Just a tiny cross on ym ankle. Boy did I get it when my dad saw it.

Tan!! You crack me up. LMAO!

I love tats. On other people and I am going to get one when I manage to get 1 yr clean.
I have 10 and a half more mos to go. LOL.
My uncle and cousin said they would buy it for me. SO this is one I am thinking about getting as a band around my arm or ankle.
Looks more like a tramp stamp. But I think it would look good wrapped with the noses touching.

OH MY GOD. Serenity, if you get Kat do your tat while you talk recovery with Nikki, I HAVE TO BE THERE!!! I love them both. BTW, have you read Heroin Diaries? Gawd, talk about reading stuff that will make you NEVER want to use ANYTHING... ugh. It's a miracle that man is still alive.

Kat is so hot, and she does WICKED tattoo art. She is so talented. I can't believe her work. I used to watch Miami Ink back when she was on it (and before she was on it, too) and I used to want Chris Garver to do a tattoo for me. Then I watched Kat and now I can't decide. LOL Not that I'd ever be able to get an appointment with either one of them... their businesses have skyrocketed because of those shows. Kat is on MySpace, though, and she puts out TONS of bulletins about what she's doing and where she'll be and how to get on the show and stuff like that.

One of my best girl friends has a gazillion tattoos, but they look so good on her. She's actually in the middle of getting a half-sleeve on one arm right now. She had a dragon already on her upper bicep and she's having a chinese garden kinda theme worked in around it, banding around her arm. She's had 10 HOURS of work done on it so far and they AREN'T DONE YET!! She thinks they have 3 - 4 more hours left. I can not imagine sitting there that long while they stab me with a tattoo needle. The 10 minutes it took to get my tiny one was almost enough to kill me!

I hate reading. But this book had me hooked from start to finish. I read this book in 2 days. LOL..I wont even read long posts here. I will just skim them I hate reading so much.
But that book was insane!
It is amazing he is still alive.
I kept thinking. I have done that. But I could never imagine going to those extremes. If I had that kind of money. I would have been just like that.
All that getting high in the closet. I use to do that in my walk in alot too.

I love Kats face tat. It looks so good on her. Not many people can pull that one off.

Now this is a thread I can get into, lol. I have a ton. I am working on sleeving my left arm, I have them on my chest both arms, and my left leg. Most of them are comic book stuff, but I do have an Evil Dead montage on my left inner forearm.

I always have tons of ideas of stuff I want, it differs from week to week, lol.

You know, tattoos are like platinum blond hair. Some women look fantastic with it - others just look silly. If I were thinner, younger, had ivory skin and dyed my hair jet black, I'd deffo ink up much more than I have. So far it's just a stupid a$$ parrot on my ankle from a manic episode at 18. I woke up from a nap and just went and got it. I've been out of the Jimmy Buffet phase since I was about 20. But in it's own way, it's pretty cool - reminds me of a time in my life when I was so different than I am now.

Next, and probably last, will be an ohm symbol at the back of my neck, right where that bone is leading to the back. No larger than a quarter. I think tiny tats on women are sexy. Even if it does just turn into a black blurry circle in 30 years .

Ive been looking in tattoojohnny.com for
cute tattoos. You can type in anything
ur looking for in there too.

The small tattoos are cute.

I have a cute little kitty cat picture already
and now i just need something to compliment
it.....like a monkey and banana.....or ....or...
cat and mouse...lol....well u get the idea.

A cute little kitty cat with its eye looking up
at u along with ...hmmmm maybe a ballon on
a string? or a butterfly?....

My fiance and I were planning to get our
tats right after we got married at 4pm on
Valentine's Day ....However we've learned
that all the time slots r filled for the rest
of that day......

Hmmmm.....it would have been the perfect
occasion for our tattoos....now we will wait.

I dont want to just go get a tat if the feeling
isnt right. Right?

and besides i havent found the right tat i
want to get just yet.

Sooooo back to the websites.

I have my first 4 picked out=)
First one to honor my daughter, a star moon and sun because that's what she is to me. (on my heart)
Next to honor the boy we lost, a cartoon style drawing of his white 66 mustang burning rubber on the clouds(shoulder)
small red anarchy style A behind left ear and a small peace sign behind right ear, (my two halves, gemini all the way)

I just have to set aside the money and time to start

My mom's name was Elly. She died at 48 from alcoholism. I love elephants, so I have a small elephant on the inside of my right ankle. My elephant tatoo has a flower tattoo on its butt. My father who was the greatest man on earth was a Taurus. He died in 06 of cancer so I got a snorting, broncing bull on the outside of my right ankle.
Now that I'm an orphan with 2 beautiful children of my own, I want to get an anklet tattoo with their names on it.
I read the Tao of Pooh about 20 years ago, and I think the cover of that book would be a cool tattoo too, but heck where do you stop? Addictive? Yes! I'm 43 and just not sure how far to go.
But, I love them, and I want more.

I was 49 when i got all 5 of mine. I never thought
I would enjoy them as much as I do now even at
my age. And Im not stopping now. To me it's
a way to express yourself thru art. Or just the
joy or love of art expressed on ur skin instead
of paper or canvas.

What ever the reason to get a tattoo is of course
ur own. Enjoy it.

"Once Upon A Time" ...I thought it might be nice to get a small ...maybe on my butt cheek. But, at 77, I'm kinda glad that I didn't...it would have spread to the size of an eagle by now! I think it's different for guys...because it's always a macho thing at any age. Just remember, ladies, that a tat gotten at 20, 30, or even 40, might someday be a tat on an 80-year-old woman in a nursing home.

Which reminds me...I tried to talk the Activities Director here to let us take one of our monthly bus trips to a tattoo parlor. She wouldn't go for it. Party Pooper! We might have made the local news.
