OK. I have to ask...

I've noticed something on this site, since I first came here. I have to ask this question, just for the simple fact to get it out of my system.

Ok, here we go...

Why are there so many of us in here who love cats???

There I've said it. It seems like at least 3 out of 5 members in here have a cat as there avatar. I have nothing against cats, (I have a white cat named Beanie). I just noticed this for so long and I just am curious if anyone else noticed this. Any theories???

i think there are just a lot of people who love cats, period. I like almost all animals (except spiders-I'm afraid of them). Cats make the best pets for me cause they have a laid back style that suits my personality. I've noticed there are a lot of dog lovers, too.

I hate cats *LOL*

But it seems that every day I wake up, my cat reminds me how wrong I am in my thinking.
When I say I like cats...it is because my cat tells me to say that.
I don't own a cat, he owns me.

Dogs will give you their attention when you are down in the dumps.
Cats will demand attention from you when you are down in the dumps.
Dogs lift up your selfesteem as they are always ready to say Hello, Welcome home. Glad to see you.
Cats are always ready to make you humble and bring you back to reality.

My theory... Cats are needed. Ask any cat that ever comes into your house and they will tell you so. *truthfully, I think they carry a mouse around in their back pocket and take it out just at the right time*.... See I told you, you need me.

Yea for the cat lovers!!! My AH didn't like cats till we got married and moved mine in. Now he actually tells him that he loves him?!
When I get mad at AH for drinking, I sleep on the couch...and guess who sleeps on my feet the entire night? He knows better than to sleep in that bed even if he could have an entire side to himself. Now that is a smart animal. Perhaps even smarter than the man I married?

I have 2 BIG dogs, and there are 2 cats who allow us to live with them. My son brought his 2 cats into the house when he moved back in with me, and that means my dogs, my son and I are all subjects of the 4 cats.\

And this has NOTHING to do with my screen name here. My dad used to tell me that something or someone was The Cats Pajamas or The Bees Knees which meant they were really cool.

My cats approve of my screen name.

My dogs don't care as long as I'm happy.

oh...

Just for the record...

When we had to put our cat to sleep...I brought her to the vet.
When we (I) thought that a new kitten should be gotten... I picked it out and brought it home.
I named him.
I bought the toys for the kitten to play with.
I ran through the woods when the kitten had gotten out.

Though I say I hate cats.... I think that is just a guy standard phrase.
Stubby is well taken care of by me and I happen to be the only one he comes to when he is called.

Being humbled by a cat is a good thing. He helps me stay in line *LOL*

Animals in general just rock. I have two dogs and three cats and I foster kittens through the local Animal Rescue League. We just had a litter of four. We had to bottle feed them and teach them to eat solid food, use the litter box (yes I got in and scratch around, just kidding)

The reason I like them. They just make me happy.

I don't know about a theory..maybe cause animals are so darn easy to love, don't talk back, snuggle when you feel like it (or even if you don't) and don't expect anything of you other then the food, water,a good walk and some brushing. And they make you laugh.

I had five cats and my dog. Then A moved in, we now have 10 cats and two dogs. ;-)

I just moved into a new house 6 weeks. I brought my 8 pugs and shih tzus and a litter of pups. That was plenty for me. Within 1 week a kitten found it's way here. A week later, another kitten showed up with an even younger kitten by it's side. Then a momma and her 4 kittens showed up. I boarded the place up and have trained my doggies to growl like vicious killers, lol (j/k about the growling lol)

I think cats are a kind of like squirrels... they're incredibly cute, wonderfully entertaining, and they occasionally appear interested in you... but they're really just thinking about pouncing on your head! j/k

Actually, I really do like cats. I've just never had the opportunity to become attached to any. There were a few cats over the years that offered to shack up with me for awhile, but they all eventually moved on. I guess I'm a little too needy for a cat. I prefer the life-long committed relationship you get with a dog.

Cats have now surpassed dogs in the U.S. as the most common household pet. Another trend is the ownership of more than one cat (the typical number is 2 cats per household). There are 70 million pet cats in the U.S. alone according to the AVMA's statistics.

I think this is a good thing. I like cats (I have 2 of those 70 million) and I like treating cats. There's something totally awesome about an 8 pound animal that could kill you if it wanted to and yet we keep them in our homes where they lay around, purr, and act totally harmless (until you take them to the vet).

I've always felt that with a cat, on a purely weight basis, you definitely get the most bang for your buck. Plus... they're just plain cool.

well, you throw a chihuaua on a burgular ... he's just gonna bounce off.

throw a cat - it's gonna stick. For a little bit, anyhow.

Dog person here. I have two right now. I'm allergic as hell to cats, so I try to stay away from them.

Now, there is a stray cat that likes to go in my garage and poop on my tool box. My dogs don't do that.

Dogs are not so arrogant to presume it's ok to poop on your stuff.

So I'm beginning to not like cats either....
