| Sicko the movie
I just got home from seeing this movie and I thought it was great. The film was strictly about people WITH insurance coverage and it was funny in places and heart-breakingly sad in places. I cried a few times. I am looking at it from a Canadian perpective and I don't think Michael Moore was being anti-American at all, but just pointing out health care methods that work in other countries and questioning whether some of the ideas could help the American system. The Canadian system is pretty good, not perfect, but really pretty good. I was so impressed with the system France has where you can get house-calls as a routine thing, and new mothers get help from government employed nannies for two 4hour sessions a week, so that they can go out, run errands, have a break.

Anna - I am really looking forward to seeing Sicko as I love Michael Moore's films. I saw some clips from the movie when he was on Oprah a couple of weeks ago and was shocked at the way things are in the US when it comes to the health care system. I feel I will never complain about the Canadian system again! One of the clips they showed was the part about the suspected terrorists at Guantanamo Bay getting better health care treatment than most Americans - the way he took the sick WTC cleanup workers down there in a boat and shouted through the megaphone that they needed medical attention - tragic but funny! I read today that Sicko is the second largest opening weekend ever for a documentary - Fahrenheit 9/11 was first.

I don't live in MA. but I do live on The MA. border. With that being siad, I listen to thier radio station, watch thier TV, read thier paper, work in, and know people who live there. Well you maybe saying to yourself what does that have to do with the topic at hand Hmmm. By David A. Fahrenthold Washington Post Staff Writer Wednesday, April 5, 2006; Page A01 BOSTON, April 4 -- The Massachusetts legislature approved a bill Tuesday that would require all residents to purchase health insurance or face legal penalties, which would make this the first state to tackle the problem of incomplete medical coverage by treating patients the same way it does cars. Yes, my experinace is second hand not like Margo.

I went to Michael Moore's web site and saw the trailer I also saw a video of him and some 911 rescue people going to Gauntanimo Bay asking for some decent health care because they are getting better health care there than the average American
