When people talk about alcoholic tolerance, its common to hear someone say that once a cucumber turns into a pickle, there's no way to turn it back into a cucumber.

Well, the only way I know how to turn a pickle back into a cucumber is to bury it, (its the seeds, you see).

I don't know about you guys, but I'm not ready to check out yet!!!

The only place you'll probably ever hear someone talk about limiting their intake to ONLY a 12-pack a night as a method of "controlling their drinking" is at an AA meeting.

By the same token, I remember a doctor's visit or two when I was asked about my alcohol use. The doctor would ask if my intake was "1 to 2 drinks daily?" ... I'd quickly do the mental math -- one night out on the weekend times about a dozen or so pints on that night equals "Yeah, it probably comes out to about two drinks a day"... Such insanity!

Controlled drinking to me was, trying to control my walk, my speech, my temper ... while drinking as much as possible each night.

Sleeping to oblivion is better than drinking to oblivion.

I think I'm going to go to sleep now. Perhaps I'll feel better in the morning.

Yep! I felt a lot better!

One of the advantages sleeping has over drinking is that you don't wake up with a hangover.

ouch, that one hit a bit close to home!........tho, i have rarely lost my temper, drinking or not.........well, ok not since i spent 2 years in therapy (HA)
