| Respectability Poll
Since it's election day, I thought that I'd make a poll of my own. Several of my friends and myself were having a discussion the other day about how society perceives people who are not "the norm", and it got me wondering about how others feel regarding this topic (it made me realize how lucky I am to have open-minded, accepting friends). Honest answers please. What are your thoughts about: 1~ People with odd colored hair. (i.e. hot pink or purple, etc.) 2~ People with lots of piercings, or wild piercings. 3~ People with lots of tattoos (neck, sleeves, etc.) Feel free to add on and make up questions of your own. |

1- I like... 2- I like... 3- I like... In fact, those are some of the things I find most attractive in a woman.....

Let's see, I have the tatoos and piercings -- normal colored hair at his point ... So I guess I'm more than OK with it all, but this topic started me thinking ... I spent all my life not being a part of anything and ended up an alcoholic and drug addict (also NOT normal)!!! Now I'm a part of one of the largest clubs around. So, am I really not normal? In the meetings I sit in, I fit right in!!! Smooches, Di

Yup by me, too. I don't care if you are white, black, purple or fluerescent orange. I don't care if you are educated, uneducated, gay or straight, religious or not, democrat or republican. I treat everyone with courtesy and respect. I also respect other's choices as to how they want to live. If someone wants to have a tatoo cover 90% of her body, more power to her, I say. I don't judge people because, honestly, I don't want to be judged.

*people with odd colored hair----it amuses me. my step daughter ( the addict in my life) had a sideways mohawk in highschool and it was dyed black and the rest of her hair was dyed platnum blond- a basketball ref at a game told her to take her ear muffs off before he would start the game. in the local resturant ( at the time the only one) my step daughter was there eating fries with her friends...her dad stopped in with a friend to have coffee, a total stranger sitting in the booth next to my hubby pointed at my step daughter looked at my hubby and said to him..that girl needs love. * people with piercings--- My son has some strange piercings. he has his nipples pierced..and his----s ...thankfully the public can not see it. only his wife. * people with tatoos---- my husband has tats on both arms..a very pretty script of his first wifes name in a heart with a ribbon with his daughters name above it. He asked if I woudl like to have his first wives name blacked out and I thought then it would be this big black ribbon across his heart that that would be bad....he tattoed a very pretty "T's" above his heart to show me that his heart belonged to me and to me alone.

1~ People with odd colored hair. (i.e. hot pink or purple, etc.) I think it is weird, lol! I had a student years ago -- straight a student. Always had different colored hair, until once, after the december break. He came in with normal hair. Asked why, he said, he tried to get a job, and no one would hire him! LOL! 2~ People with lots of piercings, or wild piercings. That is painful for me to witness. 3~ People with lots of tattoos (neck, sleeves, etc.) Again, painful. And I think of my dad, who regretted his tatoo later in life. When the skin wrinkles, the tatoo doesn't look so good anymore. lol! I guess I'm gettting old. But, I don't behave differently with students, parents, custormers, (when I was waitressing), or strangers. But, I don't *like* it, personally. Shalom!

one of the reasons that we got started on this topic is the fact that last summer i had a head full of hot pink hair, and i pretty much was treated like a leper when i went to church. now, i teach sunday school to 14-15 year olds in that same church (i'm working hard to teach them to not be sheeple), and i'm gonna put in some electric purple. i'm not sure how they're gonna react to it, but i'm gonna do it anyway. i can't be the only one who gets the itch to do something out of the ordinary sometimes. (oh yeah, and i love guys with gauged ears and sleeves....mmmmm, hot!)

1~ People with odd colored hair. (i.e. hot pink or purple, etc.) 2~ People with lots of piercings, or wild piercings. 3~ People with lots of tattoos (neck, sleeves, etc.) Geez, if you had asked me these questions about 5 years ago, I would have said, I'm really not crazy about any of these - But my HP really needed to give me some lessons in acceptance. All three of these things describe my 5 daughters, one is in beauty school - so you can imagine her hair color is different every week & she just got her nose pierced - last yr for Christmas I put belly button rings in the stockings for those who have their belly button's pierced. All 5 of them have at least one tattoo - most of them have more than one - Heck the way this is going - I may even get a tattoo - who knows? I'm 42 yrs old - And just starting to live - Happy, Joyous, Free & full of acceptance and letting people be exactly who they want to be - Thanks to Al-Anon & my HP, See ya, Rita |
