| Like A Thief In The Night
Addiction comes like a thief in the night, quietly slipping into the physical shell, turning the tumblers of the heart, carefully listening for the click, until he opens the safe called your soul. He rifles around amongst your prized possessions... self-esteem, honesty, joy, love. Stealing them and leaving nothing in their place, but self-hatred, dishonesty, sadness, pain. If only you had asked God to protect those items! But, there is still time. Though recovery you can regain those precious things. Don't let addiction rob you blind! cwohio 11/2005

Chrisite, you hit the nail with your assessment. It truely does rob the soul. The disease lingers long afterwards as well. Even after several years, the depression can drive me to drink. That's why, it's so hard for us to stop. The misery from using isn't as bad as the misery we feel sober I don't know how to explain it any other way then that. Sometimes, it's surley a divine intervention. As the song says, Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.
