this guy, not many people wanted to meet<o:p></o:p>

he drank his drink, shuffled along<o:p></o:p>

with his only friend John Barleycorn<o:p></o:p>

stumbling and slipping<o:p></o:p>

couldn’t wait till his drink he’d be sipping<o:p></o:p>

a sorry, miserable, grouchy sort of guy<o:p></o:p>

he would guzzle down those Buds<o:p></o:p>

and not remember when or why<o:p></o:p>

‘cause John Barleycorn gave him wings<o:p></o:p>

but took away the sky<o:p></o:p>

then, it happened, just as quick, a miracle in fact<o:p></o:p>

this guy, dug deep, and got the courage to fight back<o:p></o:p>

he wouldn’t let ol’ J. Barleycorn block his way<o:p></o:p>

with perseverance and determination,<o:p></o:p>

not a bit of procrastination, he made a path to AA<o:p></o:p>

you may think this guy a wise old owl<o:p></o:p>

but<o:p></o:p>

this guy is someone who now goes where eagles dare<o:p></o:p>

he’s someone we all love and about whom we care<o:p></o:p>

so let’s give him a great, big Cheer<o:p></o:p>

for all he’s done for us<o:p></o:p>
