Gratitude

Just like George Baily

in a Wonderful Life –

I felt cheated somehow,

my days filled with strife.



Years of drinking

and using drugs too,

helped fill the emptiness.

What else could I do!



I lived several years

being clean and sober

but felt incomplete –

This I may never get over.



How can one feel

grateful at night,

when something is missing

and you don’t feel right.



Sometimes what seems

missing wasn’t missing at all.

It simply took time,

like the beauty of fall.



What happened that

changed my outlook on life.

It’s feeling the love from

my beautiful wife.
