The Path

A bolt of rainbow lightning,
recognition occurs
and we fall into each other
without question or doubt we follow
the path to tomorrow laid before us
and stroll in total peace.

The journey is long, and weary we become
yet ever forward we travel sustained
by the hunger and thirst of longing
allowing the signs to light our way.

Many have traveled this way before us
in reverence our quiet steps trod.

The path is a well defined
and over time has worn to smooth.
laid by the guardians of graced love.

No detours do we come upon
yet inevitably we stray
and once again are shown the way.

Some have left their markers here
to encourage others to not dissuade
from this the final test, the waiting,
and we shall do the same
to show those who follow behind us
the joy to be found each step of the way.

Entrance to the path is granted
to only those committed to the heart they share
and endowed with the strength and determination
to withstand the between time
the most difficult test of all.

We trek ever forward leaving in our shadows
one set of footprints embedded
as our sign for others led this way,
that they my find the strength of the soul's integrity
and face each day granting acceptance.

The end of the path remains illusive
yet clearer every day in every way
as steadfastly hand in hand we cross the miles
one by one enjoying each day
remaining forever united,
fortified by the joyful anticipation
of what we are yet to be.
