Hi everyone, this is my first time here, & I thought, "What a perfect way to let off some steam, & hopefully encourage others who suffer from panic that they're not alone in what they feel?" I have actually counselled a few people in what they're feeling when it comes to anxiety. I wrote this in the midst of a panic attack I had, so, it pretty much sums up my experiences. I hope that others can relate to it. Please tell me if you do! Amber. HELPLESS When people say they're frightened, be somewhere they could 'just die', I'd like to let them feel what I feel, & give my situation a try. When the sinking feeling is permanant, & your pulse thunders in your head, gasping for air - short & sharp, can only be described as dread. When your chest cavity is clenched, & sweat runs rivers down your face, you're fearing for your very life, & your heart is starting to race. When all you can do is tremble, & choke back cries for help, dizzy spells of hot & cold is the worst feeling you've ever felt. When you're told to "snap out of it!" there's nothing that can console you, you want to, but you simply can't, & reassuring words are far & few. When all you want to do is eat, & rest your weary head, but you can only sit & rock, & wait patiently on your bed. When constant fear gets the better of you, & noone seems to understand, medication is your only friend to lend a helping hand. When depression sets in as a result of helplessness, there's nothing left to do but break down in a child-like sobbing mess. You will know exactly how I feel, & how a day lasts a week. It's difficult to grasp a cup & you have to think to even speak. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone, having it all trapped in your head. I would give not to expect the worst, & lead a normal life instead... AMBER JANE '03 ( Copyright :p ) |
