DREAMS

To realize your dreams
you must believe when it seems
that nothing will happen
and nobody cares
when the hurt your heart bears
is heavy and dark
all around is the sound
of the waves as they pound
against the shores of your soul
then turn into tears
and nobody hears
as you cry in the night
and around every turn
it's hard to discern
the path you should follow
to lessen your fright
and lead you toward light
when reason has hidden
reality far away
remember the day
you imagined the dream
and what led you there
and why you still care
then cling very tight
to the hope you had then
for what could have been
keep daring to dream
and believing inside
that the tears you have cried
alone in the night
will all wash away
when hope brings the day
that reason returns
and the silence will part
to put a song in your heart
and the stars will shine down
to brighten the night
and surround you with light
and the dream will be yours
