| The Mum I want to be
I am heading through Day 2, and cleaning house. Apart from finding all the horrors that I have chosen to ignore for the last few months, I have found in my recipe book and old poem. I don't remember how I got it, or who gave it to me, but I do remember keeping it because the recipe book will go to my kids one day and I wanted them to read this poem and think it was about me. "My mother kept a garden, a garden of the heart She planted all the good thing that gave my life a start She turned me to the sunshine and encouraged me to dream, Fostering and nurturing the seeds of self esteem And when the winds and rains came, she protected me just enough but not too much beacuse she knew I'd need to stand up strong and tough Her constant good example always taught me right from wrong Markers for my pathway that will last a lifetime long I am my mother's garden, I am her legacy, And I hope she feels the love reflected back from me." (sob) I want to be that mother for my kids... |

Hey, don't cry, they're only words. It's a strong poem, speaking of a doughty yet caring woman devoted, lovingly and sternly, to her role as a fostering carer and teacher for her children. I wonder if this reminds you of your own mother, or stands for what you think a mother should be? None of my damn business you'll no doubt say... |

I guess it does make me wish for what I did not have, and hope...no, strive, to be for my children. Ironically, the only garden at my mother's house is the one I planted myself, and the one I look after for her. |
