It's always been said
The Steps are suggested.
You could live our way,
Maybe not be arrested.
It's suggested you work them
To learn to live life.
Incorporate them in living
To be rid of such strife.
But if you take a look
In the Big Book of A.A.
A hundred-forty-nine musts
That have a lot to say.
"I must or surely I will die"
Is a pretty strong suggestion.
I must live the steps
If I'm to change my direction.
