just wnted to share some thoughts on freedom. i wrote a poem about freedom that will be published soon and the thought keeps coming to me that with all the talk of needing to bring peace and freedom to countries ruled by tyrants true and lasting peace begins in out hearts and in our attitudes. And being an addict means finding freedom to make choices in our lives not handing all our troubles and sorrows over to drugs, alcohol, food, relationships, but being secure in the knowledge that we are always free, to choose that is and it is when we stop making decisions for ourselves that we become prisoners, not of cruel leaders and rulers, but of our own stinking thinking. Here's the poem I wrote: Through Freedom's Door Oh, glorious freedom! You are so beautiful! I wish all could only see your brilliant and unwavering light. How you comfort soldiers questioning the battle, growing weary in the fight. You sustain them through the minefields of war and agony, the only compass needed to show them it is right to bring liberty and democracy where before there was no light. Opportunity is your foundation, allowing growth to begin. To all those imprisoned by cruel despots, a blueprint for salvation! And though extravagantly priced, we only cherish it more. Offering all others to enter here through freedom's door. |
