Eight Gifts 1) THE GIFT OF LISTENING... But you must REALLY listen. No interrupting, no daydreaming, no planning your response. Just listening. 2) THE GIFT OF AFFECTION... Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back and handholds. Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for family and friends. 3) THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER... Clip cartoons. Share articles and funny stories. Your gift will say, "I love to laugh with you." 4) THE GIFT OF A WRITTEN NOTE... It can be a simple "Thanks for the help" note or a full sonnet. A brief, handwritten note may be remembered for a lifetime, and may even change a life. 5) THE GIFT OF A COMPLIMENT... A simple and sincere, "You look great in red," "You did a super job" or "That was a wonderful meal" can make someone's day. 6) THE GIFT OF A FAVOR... Every day, go out of your way to do something kind. 7) THE GIFT OF SOLITUDE... There are times when we want nothing better than to be left alone. Be sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude to others. 8) THE GIFT OF A CHEERFUL DISPOSITION... The easiest way to feel good is to extend a kind word to someone, really it's not that hard to say, "Hello" or "Thank you." Author Unknown

A Hug A hug is such fun And it's certain to please you, Just open your arms And let somebody squeeze you, If you need cheering A hug never fails you, It makes you feel great And it's good for what ails you... A hug is a present You don't have to earn, And oh, what a pleasure To give... ...and return! ~ ~ Author Unknown~ ~

Since a very long time ago, people have searched for the meaning of love. But even the great philosophers, with their profound definitions, could not fully touch its true essence. In a survey of 4-8 year olds, kids share their views on love. But what do little kids know about love? Read on and be surprised that despite their young and innocent minds, kids already have a simple but deep grasp of that four-letter word. "Love is that first feeling you feel before all the bad stuff gets in the way." "When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love." "When someone loves you, the way she says your name is different. You know that your name is safe in her mouth." "Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other." "Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your french fries without making them give you any of theirs." "Love is when someone hurts you. And you get so mad but you don't yell at him because you know it would hurt his feelings." "Love is what makes you smile when you're tired." "Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK." "Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My mommy and daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss but they look happy and sometimes they dance in the kitchen while kissing." "Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen." "If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate." "Love is hugging. Love is kissing. Love is saying no." "When you tell someone something bad about yourself and you're scared she won't love you anymore. But then you get surprised because not only does she still love you, she loves you even more." "There are 2 kinds of love. Our love. God's love. But God makes both kinds of them." "Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday." "Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they've know each other so well." "During my piano recital, I was on a stage and scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore." "Love is-if you hold hands and sit beside each other in the cafeteria. That means you're in love. Otherwise, you can sit across from each other and be okay." "My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night." "Love is when mommy gives daddy the best piece of chicken." "Don't feel so bad if you don't have a boyfriend. There's lots of stuff you can do without one." "Love is when mommy sees daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford." "If you want somebody to love you, then just be yourself. Some people try to act like somebody else, somebody the boy likes better. I think the boy isn't being very good if he does this to you and you should just find a nicer boy." "Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day" "When you're born and see your mommy for the first time. "Love is what makes people hide in the dark corners of movie theaters." "Love goes on even when you stop breathing and you pick up where you left off when you reach heaven." "My enemies taught me how to love." "I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones." "You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget." "You have to fall in love before you get married. Then when you're married, you just sit around and read books together." "I let my big sister pick on me because my Mom says she only picks on me because she loves me. So I pick on my baby sister because I love her." "Love cards like Valentine's cards say stuff on them that we'd like to say ourselves, but we wouldn't be caught dead saying." "When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you." "Love is when mommy sees daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross." "You never have to be lonely. There's always somebody to love, even if it's just a squirrel or a kitten." "You can break love, but it won't die." Author Unknown

DON'T LOOK BACK-- YOU'RE NOT HEADED THAT WAY As you travel through life there are always those times when decisions just have to be made; when the choices are hard, and solutions seem scarce and the rain seems to soak your parade! There are some situations where all you can do is to simply let go and move on, gather courage together and choose a direction that carries you toward a new dawn. So pack up your troubles and take a step forward. The process of change can be tough but think about all the excitement ahead if you can be stalwart enough! There could be adventures you never imagined just waiting around the next bend and wishes and dreams just about to come true in ways you can't yet comprehend! Perhaps you'll find friendships that spring from new interests as you challenge your status quo and learn there are so many options in life, and so many ways you can grow! Perhaps you'll go places you never expected and see things that you've never seen or travel to fabulous, faraway worlds and wonderful spots in between! Perhaps you'll find warmth and affection and caring- a "somebody special" who's there to help you stay centered and listen with interest to stories and feelings you share. Perhaps you'll find comfort in knowing your friends are supportive of all that you do and believe that whatever decisions you make, they'll be the right choices for you! So keep putting one foot in front of the other and taking your life day by day. There's a brighter tomorrow that's just down the road. Don't look back!!! You're not going that way. unknown

Everything I Really Need To Know I Learned From Noah's Ark Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark. Stay fit. When you're 600 years old, someone might ask you to do something REALLY big. Don't listen to critics. Do what has to be done. Build on the high ground. For safety's sake, travel in pairs. Two heads are better than one. Speed isn't always an advantage. The cheetahs were on board, but so were the snails. If you can't fight or flee--float. Take care of your animals as if they were the last ones on earth. Don't forget that we're all in the same boat. When the doo-doo gets really deep, don't sit there and complain--shovel! Stay below deck during the storm. Remember that the ark was built by amateurs & the Titanic was built by professionals. If you have to start over, have a friend by your side. Remember that the woodpeckers INSIDE are often a bigger threat than the storm outside. No matter how bleak it looks, there's always a rainbow on the other side. DON'T MISS THE BOAT !!!!
