| Veronika Decides to Die
This is a book by Paulo Coelho that I am currently reading and I'm identifying so strongly with the main character that I wanted to let others' know about it. Although a work of fiction, the author is a well-known spiritual author. The title character in this book, Veronika, takes an overdose of pills in an attempt to commit suicide. She awakens in an insane asylum, only to discover that she has caused damage to her heart which cannot be repaired; she has approximately 5 days to live. What follows has been astounding; she's beginning to undergo a spiritual awakening of sorts, while trying to come to terms with her imminent death. I won't say any more - but wanted to throw it out there in case anyone else would be interested in reading it. I can't remember the last time I identified so strongly with a character in a book before.
