extremely agitated

from no sleep. it's 6 am where I am and I haven't slept one wink yet. my alarm will go off in an hour. it's from the coffee I had at 3 pm yesterday. I feel like punching myself. I'm starting a new job and have a month of training that I'm starting at 9 this morning. I know some people can handle no or very little sleep better than others, but I'm definitely not like that. I was wondering what you guys do to help cope with a day without sleep, besides coffee? I'm so angry right now I feel like coming out of my skin.

I hardly ever sleep, besides prescribed drugs I have SO much troulble sleeping..wish I had better advice. There are the basic sleep techniques, which I've seen links to on this forum, but if those have proved fruitless I don't know what to say, other than that I know how you feel. I can't function without sleep, yet I seem to every day because I have to. I'll break down and take a seroquel if I start hallucinating....wish I had better advice to offer, sorry.....I often feel like bashing my head into a very long sleep.....

Try some deep breathing exercises now and also during the day. Also start out your day with some basic stretches. If possible, get in a little walk later. This will keep oxygen flowing to your brain. Also drink plenty of water and several small meals through the day.

Hope it helps! Hope you have a good day.......

Thanks guys. I think one of the hardest things about performing with zero sleep is not snapping at people. It's something I constantly have to keep in check when I have insomnia because its not fair to other people. I agree that exercise is one of the best things you can do for it and sometimes you just gotta take pill to knock yourself out.
