| No sleep.
I haven't had a drink in almost two months and my old pal insomnia is back. At first, I slept like a rock- felt rested in the morning and everything was nice. Then, it became harder and harder to get to bed and harder to sleep and stay asleep, and this morning marks my first sleepless night in quite awhile. No sleep at all. It's not helping my depression. Sleeping pills become ineffective after a few days for me. I can drink a gallon of chamomile tea and it won't make a difference. I had this problem in my early and mid- twenties before I started drinking. I know there's nothing I can do because I've been through this before but I guess at this hour I had nothing better to do than post.

Hi, Deerwalk; Here are the two stickies at the top of this forum. You *might* find something helpful there. http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...-insomnia.html (Causes of Insomnia) lays out some of the causes of insomnia. and http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...-insomnia.html (Coping with Insomnia) gives some helpful coping skills for insomnia. I know that stress was a terrible culprit for my insomnia for me when I was struggling with insomnia. Sleep hygene really helped me overcome the worst of it. Every once in a while, it creeps back into my life, and I know that my stress is overwhelming me again. Indeed, that insomnia is my tell tale sign of overload! And that I need some balance in my life again. I hope you can find some help here. And let your doctor know. If I remember right, wasn't there some talk about you being bipolar on the other thread? If so, are you feeling manic or hypomanic? Your doc should know about that as soon as possible, if that's the case. And if I'm mistaken, please forgive and ignore this section of my post. Please let us know how it's going. We care. ![]() Shalom!
