Anyone with experience of sleep eating/walking Hi, I have had sleepwalking problems on and off since childhood...sometimes years without. Seems to start out from stress. In 2000 I began to sleep eat. I got sober last July, and for many months had no episodes. Then I had a couple in a few months. The last month I had an incident about once a week. Anyone else have this problem? I hear it isn't really that unique, but didn't see anything about it on this site. Thanks.

Sleep burning When I was little, I didn't sleep but for a few hours a night. I would wait until everyone was asleep, then I would turn on my light and read. I did this because of terrible nightmares, terrors and insomnia. I was in my early teens, about the time that I got into heroin, and I started sleepwalking. My parents would find me outside on the lawn, curled up on the deck, propped up against the closet wall. It happens for me in times of dire stress, when all the pressure in the world is upon my head. Just recently, after my last binge on heroin and oxy, I found myself on my front porch, burning a hole into my bathrobe, and the heat from the cherry of the cigarette was what woke me up. A few days after that, I stayed with a friend of mine, who was taking care of me during this, and in the middle of the last night I spent shooting up, she found me on her couch, downstairs from where I was staying, with a spatula in hand, and her front door wide open. I have no idea how I got there, or what I was thinking. I hope this makes sense. Sweet dreams -Tzaddi

Hi Nan, Yup, this is a pretty common thing. I used to work for a sleep disorder doc. I'm trying to think what he did for it..I think it was a mix of meds and cogitative therapy..sorta a retraining. Is there a certain food that you always eat when this happens? If it's the same thing each time, allow yourself to have some of that food during the day... If it continues and becomes a problem for you, I would suggest seeing a sleep disorders specialist. xo
