My wife and I don't have kids....we had two cats. On friday I had my cat put down. That was the saddest thing I have ever done. I feel hasty, very sad, guilty,my stomach hurts and I feel like dying. You may thing ...gee it was only a cat, but that cat meant everything to me. (eyes tearing up) my cat was sick and getting old. Nobody can tell me I did the right thing. I can't belive she's gone...I am so so sad. My heart is broken in half. Thanks for listening, pray for me please if you want to. |

O emmer I am praying for you. Losing someone you love is devastating beyond words and it doesn't matter if it's a person or an animal. When there is love between two creatures of this earth it transcends all limitations. I am so sorry for your loss. My heart hurts right along with yours... Peace to you and your wife, I will pray for you both. Wolfstarr |

(((Emmer))) I'm so sorry for your loss and your pain. I don't think any of us are ready to let go of our pets, no matter how old they are. They are part of the family. We had a female rottie, and we thought time and again we should put her down. She was 14-1/2, quite old for a big dog. One night she died in her sleep, next to my son's bed, and I wondered if we had kept her too long. I hope you can find peace in your decision and come to believe you did the right thing. My prayers are with you. hugs, deedee |

The very FIRST grief I ever experienced was over a pet... some of the harshest grief since then, has been for a pet. How can I not grieve for a creature who gives back true, unconditional love? And to whom *I* was able to give without any worries or cares aboyut how that love was perceived. Of course you are grieving... and as dark as today is, it will not go on forever. Perhaps you can put together a little memory book - you don't have to call it that - but just a collection of pictures or jot down some of your favorite memories. They are in our lives for such a short time, that the pain of the loss can sometimes overwhelm the good memories we have. Writing them down "solidifies" them for me. You are in my prayers, Emmer. ((((Emmer))))

Emmer - I have a dog that is 13 1/2 and I can only imagine how hard that would be. I try not to think about it. I tell myself I'll always have the memories. Hope you're hangin' in there ![]() Paul

(((Emmer))) I am sorry for your loss, it is hard to lose anyone or anything. In time the pain will lessen and you will be able to start remembering the good memories you shared with your cat. Prayers for you until that time comes

Emmer, I am so sorry for your loss. It is a sad thing that our dear pets are not meant to live as long as us. Noone else loves us so unconditionally. I have a horse named Miles, who is my closest confidant and friend. he is not in great health and now has multiple tumors. This animal has carried me through the woods while I cried my eyes out on more than one occasion. I will miss him so very much when his time comes. But I believe that some things are so truly special that we are only meant to have them for a short time. In time the pain will subside and make way for you to remember the good things. Untill then, my heart goes out to you. Bobsgirl |

Im sorry for your loss emmer. I know the pain. I lost my dog "Bo" in Febuary. I had him for 14 years. I did set up a shelf in his memory with his ashes, his collar and leash, photos, a poem, and a few sympathy cards I recieved from friends. Today I am grateful for the time I had with him. I will say a prayer for you and your wife.

Dear Emmer I'm so sorry about your cat. Ours died in my lap last Oct. She was 18 yrs old, had wandered into our yard and decided that we would make good owners 16 yrs ago. Always felt honored. We had to put our dog down on June 11. She was 12 yrs old but had a tumor that was affecting her bladder. I have never felt so terrrible. We know it for the best but you still feel bad. It is a very hard decision. I don't think that I would like to make that choice again. I have entered her name in the Rainbow Bridge Site. Please go to that site, it is wonderful and has much info and will help you feel better. It will help you get over your grief and learn to go on. Just remember all the good times you had with your cat.
