A poem for my Dad

DAD
WITH THE PASSAGE OF TIME DAD
MY MEMORIES GREW STRONG
THE PAIN MAY HAS LESSONED
BUT I STILL THINK YOU WERE WRONG
TO TAKE YOUR OWN LIFE DAD
IN THE MANNER YOU DID
LIVES FOREVER IN MY HEART
SO NOW DAD I BID
THAT YOUR SOUL IS SET FREE
AND YOUR LONINESS GONE
THAT THE MAN I REMEMBER
HAS GONE BEYOND
THE PAIN THAT HAUNTED HIS VERY SHORT LIFE
THE TROUBLES THAT MADE HIM LEAVE HIS CHILDREN AND WIFE
THE FEAR AND THE LOSS OF A MISPENT YOUTH
THAT MADE YOU HIDE IN A BOTTLE
AND RUN FROM THE TRUTH
THE DEVASTATION HE FELT AT LOSING HIS DAD
THAT ONE PIECE OF SANITY
WAS ALL THAT HE HAD
SO NOW I SIT HERE DAD AS IF IN YOU SHOES
NOT SCARED OF THE TRUTH AND NOTHING TO LOSE
BEING LOST IN YOUR PAST IS A DANGEROUS THING
WHEN YOU FORGET THAT YOUR FUTURE
HAS SO MUCH TO BRING
i WILL NEVER FORGET THE TROUBLES WE HAD
AND THE UNSOCIABLE HABITS WE ALCOHOLICS HAVE
BUT I WILL LIVE FOR TOMORROW NOW AND I HOPE YOULL BE PROUD
THAT IM LOOKING FOR THE PEACE THAT YOU NEVER FOUND......
FOR MY DAD BRIAN FROM HIS DAUGHTER WHO MISSES HIM STILL XXXXXXX

I lost my dad to alcoholism too, that combined with his early drug usage. I also lost a cousin to drunk driving. All those word in that poem were things that I would love to say to him right now, even though I know I can't. But reading them gave me a feelin that I've been longing for. Thank you for posting your poem.
