Lightbulb She is Gone

Quote:
I am standing on the seashore.
A ship spreads its sails to the
morning breeze and starts for
the ocean. I am watching until
it fades on the horizon, and
someone at my side says,
"She is gone."
Gone where? The loss of sight
is in me, not in her. Just at the
moment when someone says
"She is goone," There are others
who are watching her coming.
Other voices take up the glad
shout, "Here she comes!"
And that is dying.
On the funeral card for my mom, Connie K.

Shalom!

(((Teach))) Your love for your mother shines through those words. May her love for you shine in your heart through memories of a life shared, a life that gave you life, and through days to come where her own words will reflect in your heart.

Hugs

Thinking of you teach,

your words for your mum are beautiful. She obviously enriched your life and from what I know of you, you will have enriched hers too.

Love and thoughts

HistoryTeach,
I'm sorry for your loss. You will see her again.

I can't even entertain the thought of losing my Mother. It must be excruciating. Many Prayers for your Mother and her loving friends & family.

Hi HistoryTeach,

I was just thinking of you. Each day brings such different emotions with the loss of a dear one, especially when that dear one is mother.

When my grandparents, happily married for 72 years, were killed in a car accident last year we read a meaningful poem and I thought it might be comforting to you. (((hug)))
-K3

Remembrance

You can shed tears that I am gone,
Or you can smile because I lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that I come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all I have left.

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see me,
Or you can be full of the love we shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember me and only that I am gone,
Or you can cherish my memory and let it live on.

You can cry and be empty,
Or you can do what I would want…..

Smile,

Open your eyes,

Love and go on.

That's beautiful, kids...
Thank you...
And thank you to all who have generously given your loving support.
I appreciate it more than you know... :ghug

I'd like to share a lil story about the first quote on this post.
The one about someone saying, "She is gone"
And at the same time, another person saying, "Here she comes!"
And that is dying."

My brother and sister were at the funeral home, trying to pick out the quote for the card. My sister, Carol, pulled out a saying that mom had in her papers. The funeral directer said he didn't think it would fit on a card.
My brother, Scott, picked out this one, from the director's list of choices and said, he liked it. He never saw the one my sister showed the director.

It was the SAME ONE!
They all knew then that it was meant to be.
And the funeral director never even recognized it as one of his own!
(He's a wonderful man, and did everything we asked. He simply didn't recognize it and didn't want us disappointed if it couldn't fit on the card.)

Mom's spirit guided this process, we've no doubt.
Just as she guided us through life.

G*Dspeed, mom...
Tomorrow, you will rest in peace forevermore with dad.
I love you both...

Shalom!

Today, mom joined my dad in the waters around the ocean drive.
It is exactly as they both wanted.
They have been reunited.

We raised a toast to them both.
We put flowers into the water preceding the remains and following them.
And my brother, Stuart, read the following.
I thought you might like it:

Quote:
DEATH AND THE ETERNAL

" When you walk through a forest that has not been tamed and interfered with by man, you will see not only abundant life all around you, but you will also encounter fallen trees and decaying trunks, rotting leaves and decomposing matter at every step.
Wherever you look, you will find death as well as life.

Upon closer scrutiny, however, you will discover that the decomposing tree trunk and rotting leaves not only give birth to new life, but are full of life themselves. Microorganisms are at work. Molecules are rearranging themselves.
So death isn't to be found anywhere. There is only the metamorphosis of life forms.

What can you learn from this?

Death is not the opposite of life. Life has no opposite.

The opposite of death is birth.

Life is eternal."
Eckhart Tolle "Stillness Speaks"

Shalom!

Your description of reuniting your mom and dad sounded so serene; like it was just what they would have wanted and they raised their glasses along with you when you toasted their lives.

I can just picture the moment.

Thanks for checking in and sharing that experience with us.

Teach,

I'm sorry I'm coming to this late, but wanted you to know I am thinking about you and keeping you in my prayers.

It sounds as if you had a wonderful life with your mom. What a wonderful gift she was to you and you to her. And now she rests peacefully and is enjoying being reunited with your dad. How wonderful for the both of them.
I know you will miss her, but I am so thankful you know she is in a better place and so thankful that you have wonderful memories to cherish.

Hugs and prayers for you and your family,
Hangin' In

Thank you, Alera...

We received this recently. It was a total surprise!
It comes from the state senate.
My BIL said that we got a card from the senate majority leader; said we went to school with her, though I don't remember. He does though...
She must have known my mom and done this.
I'm very grateful, as is my family.

Thanks for allowing me to share it with you.
And thank you again, Alera, for doing the technical work that I can't do...

Shalom!

Teach, my goodness, what an honor and a testamony for your mom to be recognized by the Senate. She touched so very many lives and her goodness is just resounding all over... how wonderful and very moving...
