Homeless man dies; cold is to blame - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

This is the news I recieved Jan. 16 2003

Eight hours after being warned to seek shelter from the cold. A homeless man who said he drank, was found dead under a downtown bridge he called home.

On Saturday, the 47 year old man was found by paramedics about 2pm. He had passed out and hypothermia had set in.

This was my first love and x-husband. I was in shock when I was told this. I left him years ago because of his drinking.

Three men died that Jan the same way. They did not die in vain because homeless shelters started to let the homeless in after drinking. They were turned away if they were drunk.

Wow, that sure had to be a blow. I'm so sorry that he ended up homeless and dead. Addiction is sure a crazy thing isn't it.

I'm sorry (((comet))) ... that is so very sad and 47 is so young. My ex lost a sister and brother to the disease, both in their early 40's. I'm glad the shelter changed its ways.
