Today I am thankful for:
  • Drums and cats
  • Sobriety and recovery.
  • Having a really great job that gives me the opportunity to travel. It also gives me some flexibility and the ability to do things like spend a little extra time on SR in the morning when I want/need to.
  • Working hard this week on my business trip. I'm exhausted and struggling for the energy and drive to push through the next couple of days, but I will be so glad when I'm done tomorrow and have gotten a bunch of stuff done. I'll also be relieved and thankful later when it is done and out of the way.
  • A new day ahead.
  • Having really great customers.
  • Coffee- I'm going to need it today!!

Opi- I found a new kitten last night. I'm hoping not to keep it- it's so cute, but I don't need another.

  • Taking a class this weekend- it will be good to get out of the house for the weekend
  • Coffee
  • Getting new books on sobriety from Amazon yesterday
  • A new day ahead

DG, I found a kitten the exact same date, 20 years ago. I wasn't going to keep him either but the shelter was closed for the Holiday weekend.

That kitten (JIP) was the love of my life for 16 years! Amazing you posted this today.

Opi- I know I need to find it a new home, but it's so adorable.

Glee- I bought 'The Big Book', also Narcotics Anonymous, Living Sober, which seems filled with great advice (a lot of which I've already figured out), 24 hours a day, and Keep it Simple. So, all 12-step lit pretty much.

Opi- I wish I could keep the little kitten, but I already have two cats and really just don't need another. Plus the thing is a little terror. I've been keeping it in the bathroom so it's seperate from my two cats who are none too happy to have another cat around. I can't sit down to go pee without the little monster jumping on my leg with all sets of claws dug in. It doesn't seem to understand that I'm not a tree.

Today I am thankful for:
  • cats and drums
  • being clean and sober
  • I'm having a bad day, but it reminds me how much more stable and happy I am these days. My bad days are further and further apart.
  • Being willing to work on recovery even when I feel bad and looking for ways to feel better rather than trying to drown it out with drugs and alcohol.
  • Had a great class on Saturday and Sunday. I learned a lot from it.
  • My ex for all the things I learned from him. Even for the lessons that were and sometimes still are a bit painful. Sometimes I miss him, but I also know that there was a lot of dysfunction in our relationship. I'm so much more stable without him around and I am grateful for that.
  • The people in my life, especially C.
  • SR

Opi- I found a good home for the kitten. It was sad to give it up, but I think it was the right thing to do. I'm thankful that I could find somebody that seemed like they would be responsible and provide it with a happy home. Plus, he said he has kids, so they will probably play with the kitten and give it way more attention than I would have.

I am thankful for:
  • cats and drums and having found a good home for the baby cat
  • being clean and sober
  • Finding a way to 'fix' my phone which was acting up to the point of being useless
  • Finding out that the letter the state sent asking for a ton of money in back taxes may not be something I actually owe
  • Thinking about how it's funny how a lot of problems that I worry about end up just working out fine in the end
