Gratitude or Self-pity...Which one?
...Ive learned some things in Recovery that have helped me along this Spiritual process..I didnt make them up. They were handed down to me from others in the same process. My first Sponsor asked me to write a gratitude list when I first came around. It was hard for me to see any good in my life because addiction had blinded me from any Spiritual insight. He would always say, "Pete try not to look at your cup half empty"..Today Ive taken his thought to another level and say, " Thank God I have a cup"...Being Grateful takes me out of feeling sorry for myself. When I see dishes in the sink, rather than complaining about it I think to myself and say, I have dirty dishes which means I ate well...I have a choice today. To be full of self-pity which is the easy way or practice being Grateful...Which one will I choose today ? Clean........
