From As Bill Sees It
37 A Full and Thankful Heart

" One exercise that I practice is to try for a full inventory of my blessings and then for a right acceptance of the many gifts that are mine -- both temporal and spiritual. Here I try to achieve a state of joyful gratitude. When such a brand of gratitude is repeatedly affirmed and pondered, it can finally displace the natural tendency to congratulate myself on whatever progress I may have been enabled to make in some areas of living.

I try to hold fast to the truth that a full and thankful heart cannot entertain great conceits. When brimming with gratitude, one's heartbeat must surely result in outgoing love, the finest emotion that we can ever know."

Grapevine, March 1962

Not grateful I have a bad cold.

Grateful I got through a craving yesterday and didn't succumb.

Thank you espresso!

Reminds me of an old, old, rhyme..

Count your blessings, name them one by one

Count your blessings see what God has done

The gist of what Bill said.

Taking inventory of my blessings has been helping me during a time of

chemical depression. It truly has helped. And, as Bill suggests..I don't

take credit..because I too easily fall into the trap of conceit and

pride. So the credit goes to HP!

Thanks again e...

Shirt sleeve is OK, I have tissues.

The cravings are bad though! I am 3 weeks sober which is about the time I normally cave in and drink, add to that feeling really sick....means real strong cravings.
I had better go and eat something, that usually helps.

After posting here I thought, why not say how I feel in Newcomers?
I am grateful I reached out for help and grateful for the responses I got. Grateful the craving passed too.

Sick of this cold!

Hi Stone,
I read your other thread. Great you could reach out and get the support you needed without/before picking up the vodka. It's true isn't it that "This too shall pass". In Fellowship, e.

Stoney..

Eat like a hog if you have to.

Sleep like a log too.

Post, write, kick, fight, meditate, pray

Just stay away from the drink.

Whatever it takes my friend.

We're with ya.

This is gonna sound a bit odd but the "black dogs" came for me in the night. I feel terribly depressed this morning but I can be grateful that
(1) I am aware of how I am feeling although it's not comfortable and
(2) Maybe my Higher Power wants to reveal something to me because depression usually masks a whole lot of other stuff I'm not always conscious of. Ooh blimey......anyway

Grateful to be here on-line right now
Grateful to know I don't have to wallow in it - that I have choice today
Grateful to know that I am no alone

Not been very grateful lately, been too sick. It is only a cold so I should be grateful for that I suppose, lol.
