| Just Grateful for Being Sober
Today me and my ten year old son were sitting in our deer stand and I was thinking how grateful I am to be here sober. Watching him being so patient and quiet, just the perfect hunter. I remember 2 years ago I was at the bus stop at 7 am, still shaking a little bit from the previous night's drinking, my son said ," dad, you need another beer, I'll get you one". Then it came to me that my dad died of alcoholism, I turned in to my dad, and my little boy would probably turn in to me. That night I checked in to re-hab for 2 weeks where I went through the DT's, and after my release I joined AA. With God's help I have been sober 2 years. Thank You Jesus for all my blessings! It does get better (not right away) being sober, Merry Christmas Everyone.
