| No Driving Drunk
I was arrested for driving drunk in 04 and will soon be able to start the process of getting my license back. I am grateful for that arrest because it has put me in a position of recovery that I would not have taken had the police let me go. I drove drunk regularly and even totaled my truck once. Had been arrested for drunk driving twice befor and went to jail, but none of those things stopped me. This time did but I can't be sure why. Just that I was trying to go the wrong way on the interstate. The thought of me being a drunk was no big deal but the thought of killing someone! Just because I wanted to drink and drive! That was what I thought about while I was in jail this time and I knew where I was going when I got out. Straight to AA. It does get better. Now I live. Now someone else is still alive. Thanks to all the police out there doing your jobs.

Hello. I know exactly how you feel. I had a dui in 94, and then again in 2000. The one thing that stopped me the first time was to sell my car. Of course once I got one in 2000 I screwed up again. (not to mention I drove for my job) The second time I went to jail for 2 days and had time to think about how I was the one that had no right to be on any road jeopardizing other people's lives! Those 2 days were like therapy for me. I stopped drinking for awhile and started again. I have had my license since 2005 (I don't own a car but do have access to one) and would not even consider screwing up again. When I walked out of DMV it was then I finally realized having a license is a privilege and not a right. For whatever reason, that made a HUGE difference and impact on me. It was like the lightbulb over my head was finally turned on! You also won't be able to drink whatsoever as long as you have a car. If you end up getting drunk that stupid voice we all have in our addict heads is "Oh, I'll be okay. It's not that far." Right!! Maybe in LaLa land but not here in reality world. NEVER EVER! I had a long history of driving drunk with being pulled over and let go. You know as well as I do that teaches you nothing. Anyway, I just want you to know I feel for you and completely understand what you are going through. Just whatever you do: DON'T GET BEHIND THE WHEEL DRUNK! Remember lives are precious including your own. STAY STRONG!! I'M 100% BEHIND YOU!! Sorry so long!!!!
