Hi. I am here as well. It has been quite around here lately but even when it is busy the responses come in over a period of days rather than hours. I am in my late 40's, a lesbian in a committed relationship, with 12 years sobriety.

Happy Day 8, CGY - Kudos!

Since we're giving our stats: 49 yrs old, 3 weeks clean/sober as of yesterday, married (in CA, at least, heh) since 2008, but been together for twenty....good grief...twenty seven years, I think?

Congrats again.

Good on ya - 12 days, congrats! I'll have 30 days Sunday and am really looking forward to not having to raise my hand as a 'newcomer' every freaking meeting (I'm going the AA route). That spotlight thing is hell on an introvert, heh heh.

Congrats again, CGY!

Day 16 today, right, CGY? Congrats!

Hey, post some questions if you'd like - folks'll usually post to help or to respond. You could do a poll, too - people seem to like surveys for some reason, myself included, heh heh. Maybe stuff like: what age did you come out, how did being gay affect your getting/staying sober, where do you find community, etc.

Just some thoughts....

Hey, that sounds like a great idea for a thread, why not post one? I like knowing those sorts of things, too, I think it helps fill in some pieces when we're on a forum that is mostly anonymous. Just in this thread I've found out there are at least four of us here in late 40s/early 50s, lesbian, so that's pretty cool! (Counting myself there btw.)

CGY--23 days now? Great! How're you doing?

I messed up this past weekend by going somewhere in West Hollywood. (U know the land of the gays) I'm at 3 days now. I wish I had a bunch of local gay sober friends. Anyone in the So Cal area?

Hey CGY. Well, recovery is a learning curve and sometimes we have to take a lot of steps back before we can start moving forward. Just try to learn from your experience if you can.

I'm wondering if you can find some GLBTQ meetings in your area? I'm no longer in LA but there should be tons of meetings whether AA/NA or other types of sobriety groups for our community. Maybe check out some websites or local queer centers to see what they have?

In the meantime you can keep posting here and find support!

Hi CGY, I really can't add to Lyoness' great answer but I wanted to say hello and let you know that there are people here who care and support you.

Hi! I just joined a couple of weeks ago. I read one of your earlier posts about not to many people being here, which surprises me too. Maybe it's just my experiences but there seems to be a lot of addiction issue with meth and alcohol in the LGBT community. I'm going on 8 months clean now from meth and honestly I feel like I'm the only one. I know that's not true but it feels that way. The whole sex and meth combo tied me down to a pretty hedonistic pattern for 6 years. It has taken a lot to break the pattern. The group I go to has around 50-60 guys, (on and off) and most seem to be in a relapse mode every month or two. I understand that because before I made 8 months clean I spent a year trying to get off it by myself and I could only go 30 days or so before my sex drive and meth addiction would meet up and push me into the abyss again. Are there any other Gay-Men-Recovering meth addicts here?
