| my gay lil ramble ::p
So I lost my job late last week because of excessive absences. (After 6 years) Many short periods of soberness..longest was 66 days. I went on a 4 day str8 drinking binge... up until Fri night. Finally feeling a bit normal today. I was so depressed up until today (lets hope it can only get better) Today is my 3rd day of not drinking and I have no feelings to drink again. I used to blame my excessive drinking on my lifestyle (the gay lifestyle seems like its nothing but partying) but I have to own it and not place blame on anything but myself. Here's to hoping YOU and I can stay strong the rest of this day.<3

Glad to hear you are feeling a bit more normal today. Depression sucks, I wish there were a more eloquent word for it but there isn't one I can think of that describes it better. Glad you are not feeling like drinking today. I am hoping that will continue. I think we all find whatever justifications we can to make some sense of the insanity of our drinking when in reality that is what our drinking is just plain insanity there is no rhyme or reason to it just craziness. I am glad you have reached out here at SR as I know I have found a lot of support here over the years. I don't know how you feel about a program of recovery but I do know that having one made finding sobriety much easier for me and until I had a recovery program I was not able to maintain any length of sobriety. There are many different programs with AA being the most well known program but certainly not the only one that works. If you are interested in trying to find a program of recovery that works for you here is a good resource listing: http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...formation.html (Recovery Programs and Resources Information) Anyway, just wanted to say hi and that I am glad you are here.

It is rather slow around here but people do pop in. Replies tend to happen over a matter of days rather than hours. But we do have some good people here. I wish this area was more active and have made attempts to get it so without much success...lol Oh well. Glad you made it through the day. Good luck tomorrow.

| A simple guy making his way |
I have always found it to be a challenge to be gay and sober. I grew up at bars as the primary meeting tool. Even when I was 17... Oh to be young and hotter again... Lol well ok.. Hot again. I digress.... There are far fewer regular places to go all gay that are not bars. That's changed a lot over the years but still we lack congragating places that are more healthy. But this is a great place for all of us to be who we are and sober! I love that! Ken |
