Whack-a-mole
Identity theft keeps plaguing me. It's amazing how much my ex was able to do in my name. The cops won't pursue any of it. But every now and then I get my hopes up.
Yesterday I found out he'd opened an account in my name. After going through hoops to prove that I am really me I finally got the bank to cooperate. They admitted this was an obvious case of identity theft.
Okay. So, bank fraud? Maybe this is finally something...
Then I'm looking through my divorce papers and I see that he had listed that bank account. Somehow I hadn't noticed that he'd put down that we had a joint account. I thought it was his sole. The lawyer I paid $26,000 to do nothing hadn't noticed, either.
Anyway, this loser. He spent almost half his entire income at the casino and he's whining to me about child support.
I'm filing bankruptcy soon to hopefully wipe away all this debt he's accrued in my name. There will never be justice, it seems. But then there is. Because I don't have to live with him anymore, and he still has to live with his sh#tty self.
So I guess I win.

I totally get the "whack a mole" analogy, just don't put down the club yet! You did well with that account, sooner or later he will run out of options.
And if you can charge him for anything that he does fraudulently using your name, please have at it, girl! You will be glad you did in the end.
I'm cheering you on, soon or later you WILL whack that mole and be allowed to live in peace.
Hugs

I used to subscribe to a credit monitoring service that let me know every time a credit check was made in my name.
This is probably very small comfort to you, but one good thing I got from my ID theft brouhaha was that it made it very difficult for me to actually get more credit. It curbed my admittedly irresponsible spending habits down to zero. So by the time it was all over I had no debt. That said, for those who need credit to get by, this is not much of a solution at all.

It will all come crashing down soon enough. Here's hoping I can get my name unattached to all of his goings on before it does.

Grrrr so frustrating but yes the HUGE plus in this situation is you don't have to live under his chaotic roof ever again! This is going to catch up to him...hopefully sooner than later. I swear it's like they have no souls and no empathy for anyone. You WILL get that mole, don't wave your white flag.
