Since I have come to SR ( LONG time ago) there have been times that I have been beat over the head, gently guides, coaxed, coached and led. I had to wade through all of it and find what made sense to me.
I also had to learn that much of my questions had a simple answer: Because I would not stop helping him be an addict.
However, these answers had to come to me in my own time. This is not hypothetical situations, and someone who has not had to navigate through being a parent of an addict could not understand the pain that comes along with making the "right" decisions, even if the advice is spot on.
