Oh so many things I regret. Here I go, in no particular order: not trusting my gut, not letting my son deal with the full consequences of his actions, not being consistent and falling for far too many lies, for not taking his marijuana use more seriously while I still had the power to do something and finally for not getting him out of my house sooner.

Here is what I got worked up. There are probably more deep in my psyche.
1. I regret that I wasn’t as prepared to be a parent as I’d liked.
2. I regret that we weren’t stricter with you as a small child.
3. I regret that I lost patience with you as a child, rather than calmly providing strong parenting.
4. I regret that we didn’t have a healthier family life throughout the years.
5. I regret allowing you to manipulate us throughout the years of our family life.
6. I regret no implementing tough love.
7. I regret that as an adult I was gullible and failed to see that alcoholism was at the root of your employment problems and other problems, rather than the false explanations you gave.
8. I regret that you learned to drink at the boarding school we had hoped would help you.
9. I regret that we and other family members enabled your disease by giving you money.
