I am trying to find a low cost or free sober living house for my sister in Texas. She will be discharged from a residential treatment center on December 14 and our family thinks it best that she go immediately into an extended sober living house in Texas. Thanks!

Try googling Oxford House - They are all over and usually just charge the person's share of the home expenses. Also her counselors in treatment will be working with her to come up with alternatives probably. It's good that the family realizes it is healthy for her to work on her recovery on her own.

Kerrville has an extensive sober living network because La Hacienda (big rehab) is there. You may want to call them for a list -- they are very helpful. I never had much luck just looking for sober living on the internet, you need an inside source like a rehab center.

The treatment center should help make arrangements I would think. They should also be equipped with the most relevant options.

Thanks for all the responses. I was able to get her into the Salvation Army, an all women's location, 100% free of charge which is great.
