I repeat this general idea often to third parties who can't understand why I don't loathe STBXAH with the force of a thousand supernovas. Because he hates himself enough for the both of us.

I had one woman ask me, in all seriousness, if I was going to have a party when the divorce was final, b/c that was what she had done. I was like, "ummm, well, nooooo..."

But then, I did end up taking a wheelbarrow and carting his stuff out to my brother's pole barn for the possums to maul, eventually, so maybe I shouldn't be so high and mighty!

Glad to hear things are rolling along as smoothly as can be expected, Wisconsin. Hugs and best wishes to you!

I am gonna try to remember not to p*** you all off! (I don't want to end up in the pole barn).......

Divorce "parties" just sound so twisted, to me....I actually know of a w oman who had one.

Oh, dandy, I bet you'd cook that possum up into a tasty stew and serve him w/some Jello--he'd never have a chance!!

I didn't have a party but I must admit to being REALLY happy.

I would imagine it all depends on the situation...

When my divorce from my XH (not an A) was final, I was very, very relieved. It had been an ugly, protracted battle, and I was ready to put it behind me. I was the one who had been unhappy in the marriage, and never once during the nearly 2-year divorce battle did I EVER think I was making a mistake. But it was still sad. Nobody gets married thinking they will end up divorced.

That said, I can definitely envision situations where the finalization of a divorce prompts great joy.

I can report that I was truly happy when I got divorced. The chains had been cut. That being said, having children with an XAH is still cause for a lot of misery in my life, but at least I don't have to live like that anymore!

Hugs!
