OT-book review
"The Body Keeps the Score" by Van der Kolk
Lexie and Honeypig recommended this book and I couldn't get my hands on it fast enough. Y'all-this is single handedly THE best book I've ever opened. I'm only about a fourth of the way through but my eyes are popping out of my head and I find myself nodding and have had a few jaw dropping moments so far. Truly eye opening. I cannot recommend this book enough to anyone suffering from abuse or trying to heal from trauma or understand what it does to your body or trying to live in the present and truly move on from the traumatic event(s). Please get a copy-or PM me and I'll send you my copy when I'm done with it. The best money I've ever spent (second best was Lundy Bancroft's "why does he do that").
Just wanted to add another resource for hope and healing to those still struggling with healing-myself included. Thanks so much, lex and HP!
Cheers, y'all!

I'm glad you're finding it so useful, FoG. I didn't get it finished before it had to go back to the library. There was a waiting list, so I couldn't renew it right away, but I do want to check it out again and finish it up. The title really says it all...
Glad you found it so helpful! It's on my to-read list, and on my Kindle, so I will undoubtedly get to it. As I said, my colleagues raved about it, but I wasn't sure how "academic" it would be--glad it's written in a way that lay readers can follow.
