Is illogical and irrational thinking a common theme with alcoholics?

One thing to keep in mind with long term alcoholics besides the chemical aspect is think about all the time they spend drunk, buzzed, hung over or hunting that next drink instead of actually thinking about or dealing with life's issues sober and with clarity. Expect erratic behavior and a lack of maturity. Getting caught and using the dog ate my homework excuses shows the lack of maturity.

Yes, of course. Think: "his majesty the child." They also go to great lengths to stay with enablers.
