He killed her last night.

My therapist is an amazing person. My AH had been seeing her for two and a half years for marital issues, including his drinking. She is warm, open, sympathetic, empathetic, engaging, and could finish my sentences and see straight into our souls. Truly a shining light in a dark world. Her name should have been Hope.

AH and I also saw her separately. She could take our separate issues, help resolve them, and explain them to the other spouse so marital issues would resolve. My AH and I fell in love with her. She adored Joan Jett, too, which was really cool.

About a year ago she encouraged me to go to Al-Anon. It took me six months to work up to it but I went and it changed me for the better. She was right.

Well, my marriage didn't work out due to the alcohol. Two months ago we made the split. I continued to see my therapist, who helped me work through my co-dependent denial and see what had slowly been unravelling. She helped identify the broken pieces and we started figuring out what went where and why they were broken. She taught me how to change.

Through tidbits here and there I pieced together that her husband had alcohol issues, but to what level I didn't know, nor was I going to pry.

Last night her husband was drunk and tried to drive. She tried to stop him. He killed her in their driveway.

It hurts in ways I never knew possible. I don't know if it was an accident or intentional, but my (now completely shattered) heart believes it was murder. You get behind the wheel while drunk, you are a weapon for murder. And that's what he did.

Oh my goodness, what a horrible thing to happen.
I hate addiction.

I am so so sorry for your loss, PD.

well hands up who has drunk and drove ? that could of been me that night, working in prisons i have met people who killed people while drunk be it by car driving or a simple fight that goes wrong

its a dam hard fact of life that for some maybe one of you who are reading this post might get behind the wheel of a car and kill someone because you can not get off the drink

makes my blood boil at times as these things can be avoided and yet they happen over and over again : (

sorry to hear of this news i really am

I am so sorry.
You must be in total shock and need to look after yourself.

Perhaps you could write her family a letter to let them know how much you thought of her and keep it until the time is right to give it to them.

I will be thinking of you xx

So sorry. Simply a tragedy. So many added personal risks involved with living in an abusive relationship of any sort. I wish you strength....

I am so very sorry, for her and her family and all who loved her. My prayers go out for you and all those people who share the sadness and loss of a wonderful friend, loved one, counselor.

Driving drunk is like waving a loaded gun, somebody's bound to get killed and there is no excuse for getting behind the wheel in that condition.

How tragic. How heartbreaking.

Hugs

My f*** &*^&*^

I don't know how to express what I felt reading this. I identify with "her" in many ways based on your post.

I can only concur with Dee. I hate addiction. Adamantly.

So sorry, PunchDrunk. Please be kind to yourself.
